Although less well known, James Gamble Rogers II designed many commercial buildings throughout the state of Florida.
The Florida Supreme Court Building
During his career, Rogers II designed many public buildings throughout the state of Florida. Probably his most well known public building is the Florida Supreme Court Building in Tallahassee, Florida. The Jeffersonian Greek Revival building was designed by Rogers II and Yonge & Hart of Pensacola, Florida. The building was constructed in 1948 and remains the location of the Supreme Court in Florida to this day.
The Seminole Hotel
Rogers II designed many other buildings in the Central Florida area as well. The second Seminole Hotel, built in 1912, went through a large scale renovation phase in the 1940s. James Gamble Rogers II designed many of the renovations to the hotel including the dining hall, kitchen and basement.
